S500 Coup Black, S280 Gold(ish)
Hi - Sorry for all the threads.

After 3 years looking ive finally found and bought a S500 Coup with EVERY extra available - unfortunately very few of these every extras still work!!

So next on the list is change the climate control module in the center dash. Before i go bounding in and brake something does anyone know the removal procedure?

Also - anyone know where i can get a full MB workshop manual so i dont have to keep plaguing everyone?

Thanks again.

You do not say what S500 it is, but most control unit require the special keys £1 from MB to remove them.

There are many things that could be wrong other than this

Hi

its a 1996 S500 Coup

There is one button that does not function on the "UP" side temp control for the passenger - it feels spungy and makes no click when depressed, also some of the LCD digits dont fully blacken. I have a spair so was just going to switch it!?!?!

Then just get the keys, they are radio removal keys from MB or Ebay and just push them into the slots (handed) one each side and it slides out.

Your car will be a 140

I repaired one of these last week for a guy

Thanks!

Job done in 2 mins!!

Just one note to add - tried with a pair of £2 radio pillers and it was not having it on one side - spent £15 on a "Professional" full set and it came out straight away. For the £13 extra i would recommend anyone else just paying the bit extra - it came with lots of other bits that will surely come in handy - like instrument binnacle removal tools!!

Upon inspection of the "dud" unit its the small plastic spur on the button (that actually presses the micro switch) thats broken off - best way or repairing it anyone??

I have a similar problem with the climate control panel on my 1998 SL500 WDB129068. I was wondering if the LCD display is replaceable or does one have to go for the whole unit, probably from breakers as new they are a little pricey (no offence to a fellow member). Sorry about continuing thread in the wrong forum.
