Hi
I have a 1997 129 500SL and the 1.2w LED which illuminates the climate control unit when the side lights/headlights are on.The light is very dim and only stays on for about 25 minutes. If I then stop switch off the ignition and the switch it back on the light works again ,but then it switches off again after only 5/10 minutes.I have changed the LED (I even tried to find a higher wattage than 1.2 with little success) but it may be the led holder that slots in to the back of the unit.My Main Dealer says that Mercedes dont supply the little plastic bulb holder by itself ,I would have to order the complete Digital Climate Control Unit !!!!! Anyone got any suggestions?

Hi,
You call it a LED "bulb", in mine it is a normal incandesant lamp, which I expect that yours is too, just replace it as they discolour over time and drastically reduce the amount of light they emit.

Looking
There are some cross-over cars but it should be the later digital aircon unit from 1996:

The unit gets illumination information from the instrument cluster via K1 - it's possible the signal is faulty if it's shutting off deliberately.
