Guys ,

Have had a search around on the internet and here and apart from some limited success about this I still don't think I am 100% sure of how I could , and how easy it would be , for me to remove and re-fit a new fog lamp on my CLK.

Found out it was smashed today (offside front) - just the glass but knowing how our manufacturers love sealed units I am pretty sure I can't just buy new glass for it so a replacement is called for.

My Merc dealer was quoting (albeit a salesman!) around £200! I know I can get the lamp/housing for about £55 or so so I am tempted to try and install it myself.

Bearing in mind it's got the AMG body kit/bumper am I right in thinking that if i go under the car there is a 'panel' somewhere I can remove easily and then stick my hand up to release the thing?

Is it simple or do I need special tools or what? I am not clear from everything I read that it is simple or not..slightly confusing. If someone has any experience of this I would love to hear some simple instructions... shame MB themselves don't publish any!

Thanks in anticipation...

Hopefully i have posted this in the right section...still a bit of a noob here but value the advice I have had an read in the past from you guys.

The glass can be bought on its own from MB, to fit it just remove the wheel and remove the front section of the wheel arch line,,, just releasing the lower front nuts should release it enough to enable you to get to the lamp

Thanks for that response... Just went out and had a look at it.

I can see what you mean about removing the front arch.

Spawns 2 further questions.

The front arch is held on with 3 hex bolts which are easy enough to get off and 1 , what looks like , a non hex plug - i assume simply pulling that straight put will release it?

And i have had a google looking to see if i can get the glass anywhere but seems to be only a full unit... Any idea where i can get that? The whole unit is about £55 ... That i can see...

Again many thanks for your response...

I can only get the part number from the complete VIN number

The nuts are plastic normally holding on the wheel arch liner

Smart + others :)

If its an AMG then it has to be a full lamp, glass not available sep for lamp.

Sad to say that they are still up to their old tricks, the glass and seal is shown, but because its AMG the glass is not shown on its own
