Hi,

If you have memory seats, the system they use to remember the places may need resetting with star.

Might be worth disconnecting the battery again for ten mins. They might work this time.

thats bizarre i have disconnected my w208 clk320 batt on many occasions ,never had issue with seats , where i did get issue was new fully charged batt fitted ,then i cranked it over without having lights ect on. (ie load ) and my alt regulator blew and just after that the maf failed ,both known issues if you do research . all avoidable if batt box labelled with warning ? . check all fuses ,then disconnect bat again for 5 min and try again. modern electronics !!

I never had any problems with the seats in our w208 320 cab either.
Just remember reading something about the system it uses, (the name eludes me but some counting system) and that it needs to be reset using Star.

Does it work. ?. I would have thought that the lighter socket would be on a broken circuit, either switched mechanically or electrically without power or ignition on.

Yes, according to someone I know that has one and has used it a couple of times - the reason I bought one - this it what it says about Ignition Switch position:

"Please note, if the ignition key needs to be in position 1 for the lighter or socket to work. it needs to be in position 1 for this saver to work."

Mine is "LIve" if in Position 1, (Acc). The Rover was live all the time, and so was the BMW....

I have actually tested the one I bought with a Meter and it pushes out about 12.5v.

Thank you, but still re connecting the battery to the car with the key in position one.
Much prefer to connect a small 12v battery ( alarm type) to the battery terminals before changing it.

I must be in “doom monger” mode today, sorry.

I suppose if you are that worried, (and don't have access to a spare 12v Battery) you could use one of these and connect it to the Terminal under the Bonnet by the Throttle Control.....

And for less than a fiver is what I will get..... :D

That might not solve the problem - the newer the Model, the more complicated the Electrics!

Personally I would consider sentence #1 in post #2

etc.
I can vouch for that. I have a 209 CLK and the amount of complex electrickery frightens me to death. I shudder to think what current models are like with electronic handbrakes, self park etc.

me too. looks great on brochure but often a ballache further down the road .for me W208 one of the last models that were not too complex to maintain oneself without a damn laptop ! mine is 19 yr old and my best ever car . my newer models have been nice, when it all works and a financial headache when they dont.
