i have a 53 reg w209 2,7 diesel and it sounds like a bad tappett,are these engines known for this or is it something else

Biggest issue the 270 has is injector leaks. Have a look under the plastic cover for a black tar like substance around the injector clamps. You will see plenty of posts on here about Black Death ( it’s not as bad as it sound).
