Hi Guys,

Recently acquired a CLK 220CDI Avantgarde (56 Plate) as a daily driver.

Have been looking into iPod integration and was looking at the kit from 'Command Online', which is £250 that allows steering wheel controls etc.

However, I'm now looking at using the Aux option as it's more cost effective route. I've checked my glovebox and can't see a connection but can see the pre-drilled hole, which leads me to think I need the following:

https://www.commandonline.co.uk/aux_input_w203.html

Would this be correct?

I haven't checked the trim panel near the door, but am I right to think the connector will be there? Because when I press CDC on the Audio20 unit is does says 'AUX Active'.

Finally, is there any way I could use a longer AUX cable, and have it feeded out near the gearstick or under the seat, so it's easier to control the iPod as I won't be able to control it via the main unit.

Thanks in advance!

That looks about right but the guys at Commandonline are great friends of this forum so give them a call and I’m sure they will be more than happy to discuss your query and provide any other info you need.

Thanks Srdl!

Have spoken to them on email and adviced that all the glovebox will come with that pre-drilled hole.

So will need to check under trim panel on the passenger side to confirm if I have the white 4-pin connnector.

If it’s anything like the side panel on my fascia, the part nearest the seats pulls out first to the left and the bit nearest the engine is hooked into a fitting on the back.

Thanks bud.

What other options do I have for intergrating an iPod with the car?
I know I could get a aftermarket head unit but then I lose the OEM centre console setup.

Based in West London, does anyone know where I could go who could fit something for me?

Thanks

If there's a port on the back of your Audio 20, then a simple aftermarket AUX 3.5mm jack cable will work just fine.

I had one in my car for two years, before I replaced the head unit - never any problem. It also worked perfectly well with a simple bluetooth adapter.

I ran it through to power socket tray - as you said: it's much more convenient to have it there.

(while I was at it, I couldn't resist fitting a blue LED - there's no factory light fitted to non-smoker packages, for whatever reason)
