I have a 230 CLK 2000 which i have just brought.
It has just been fitted with a new battery and ever since then when setting the alarm it randomly activates.
What i mean by this is if you go on a journey, get out of the car set the alarm, sometimes it arms ok, other times the alarm goes of.
there does not seem to be any pattern, its just totally random.
I have tried pressing the movement sensor button before setting, did not have any effet.

Failing a fix on this problem, is there any way you can disable the alarm.

Thanks

Ok,
So now i cannot lock the car at all without the alarm going of and annoying my neighbours.
Obviously is causing me a bit of a problem as i cannot leave it anywhere unless it is unlocked.

If the alarm is giving grief with the motion sensors switched off, I would take all the door/boot/bonnet switches out and clean them all. Make sure that non of the wires are shorting out.

Would i be right in saying that if the door switches were not working correctly then the interior lights would not go out when the door is closed as well as the window not droping slightly when you open the door.

Does this point to more of a bonet boot switch problem.

I will take them all out and clean them up anyway as a precaution

The window dropping will be from the door handle as they drop before the door is open. The lights are from the door switches though so if they are working with the doors they should be ok.
Is the boot light going on and off?
Interesting thing with MB boot switches is that you can pull them out with the boot open to switch the boot lights off.

If i have the door open and press the door switch and then let it back out again the window does go up and down,
Yes the boot light does go out when the switch is pressed.

Where abouts is the bonet switch, is it the same type as the door/ boot switches?

I have removed all the switches, cleaned and replaced them.
Still not able to lock the car.
I have just replaced the batteries in the key fob, just incase, still no joy.

Looks like an expensive trip to the auto sparky to see what he can find.
Thanks for you help anyway.
