Hello All,

I noticed the engine management light come on the other day on the way to work, so after driving home from work, I thought I'd see if the light came on every time and whats happening is:

Foot to the floor but not pressing the kickdown in, the light doesn't come on and the car will accelerate quite hard, sometimes deciding for a while whether to kick down a gear or not but no light.

When the foots to the floor and pushing the kickdown in the car seems to loose revs slightly, no acceleration and the engine management light comes on and will only go off when the kickdown is released, then it will start to accelerate (and drop a gear if it wants to).

I also have a thread open in engine & drivetrain section but this is a different problem to what is being discussed and described under that thread (as I have a couple of different issues with this car and want the issues under the relevant sections, if an admin deeds to remove this, could you please email me first as this is a separate issue to whats listed under the engine/drive/exhaust section and I am not trying to cross post across threads)

Has anyone come across this in the past or any ideas what it could be, throttle position sensor possibly?

Cheers

I realise guessing can be expensive and would not order work on a guess, I just wanted to know if anyone had encountered this issue as it seems very specific to the use of kick down, yes I mentioned it in my other thread but more as a side note as I didn't realise there was another section specifically on electrical, ecu & engine management and this issue was not the reason I opened my original thread, so I am keeping my other thread to the glow plug issue and have only been looking to see if anyone else has encountered this issue when using the kick down within the engine management section.

If you want to delete it again, feel free to do so, all I've been wanting is to know if anyone else had encountered this particular issue and I felt this section was the right place to find others that may have seen this issue. I also realise STAR is the way forward and will be getting my car booked in on one when I can but want to be armed with as much info as possible beforehand.
