I'm having a problem with hesitant gear changing.
The gearbox seems confused about which gear to go into. Can anyone help?

You need to start with the basics. Is the oil level ok? Has the fluid and filter ever been changed? Is the engine giving out the correct power?
All these can affect gear changing

Could be many reasons. First you must ensure that box has enough/not too much oil, oil has been changed under 100 000km ago. If these are ok, then most probably the transmission control unit box has suffered oil contamination (oil climbs up inside the cable), and need to be cleaned ans plug changed. These can be check without diagnostic program, if there is still problems after this, fault codes will tell if there is something wrong inside the tranny box.
