CLK 320 cabriolet opening issue

Hi, we have recently got a 2003 CLK 320. The roof will not open using the button, the windows come down, front of roof unlocks and then the sequence stops. The pump can be heard running.
I have attempted to open the roof manually, but was unable to lift the cover, even with two people. Disconnecting the lifting cylinders I was able to get into the storage compartment to check the switches.
Can the cover lifting cylinders get seized? Do they need replacing or can they be taken out and loosened?

To open the roof manually, you need to open the relief valve on the pump.

Very unusual for them to seize. You need to rear the codes in the roof module to see what it's upset about. Sometimes it looses the roof location and just needs to be reset, although it's probably the microswitch in the front latches if they undo and it gets stuck there.

Thanks. I opened the relief valve and couldn’t get the cover open - even with a significant amount of force on the hinges.

Then they must be siezed! First I've seen though. Usually they leak
