CLK 320 Coupe windows yo-yo

Having trouble with both passenger and drivers electric windows. They close fully then insist on opening up about an inch again! This only seems to happen when the doors are closed, they close to top and stay there when doors are open.

Any ideas?

Have you tried resetting them? I believe you hold the button down for a number of seconds to reset the stopping point. It may be trying to go up too far, then detecting the resistance and dropping back 1 inch (finger protection mechanism). One of two of mine have gone daft a couple of times and if I remember correctly, thats what I did to reset them. Seems to happen after the battery is disconnected. I believe the method is in the manual. (can't think where else I would have got it from).

Hi

This was a very common fault but I thought they had all been done by now, there is a software fault in the door control modules, take the car to you nearest dealer and ask them to carry out window adjustment in DCM1 & DCM2 this should be done for nothing or 30 mins labour at the most

Cheers... been playing around with it and discovered that it only comes back down when you press to the close button all the way down. At the first pressure point on the button it works ok, will live with it for now and rectify next time it goes in.
