clk 320 instrument cluster

Hi all

i have just purchased a 2000 clk320 convertible, the problem i have is that the digital clock and gear notification leds are not working (the 2 digital boxes either side of the central box on the speedo). They are illuminating but coming up scrambled, does anybody know what this could be. i have been told its a common fault on this model ad it will not be the gauges themselves but the module instead? does this sound correct or have i been given duff information. if it is the module could anybody tell me wht it looks like, where is it located and is it expensive to replace.

Hello shaune and welcome. the fix means taking out the instrument cluster and inside there are some ribbon cable that lose contact, the fix is to make up little rubber wedges and push rhem into the rear of the ribbon cable so that better contact is made.
