To quote the old favourite, "I'm new here".
I have a problem with my '98 CLK 320. Suffers from intermittent starting problems. Most occasions starts perfectly but occasionally not.
Insert key, turn, one 'cough' then nothing. Process may be repeated a number of times before vehicle starts or may only occur once before starting perfectly. May happen again at next start or may not happen for a week. Noticed that at non-starts there is an almost full range ‘flick’ of the rev counter.
As the vehicle was recently purchased it went back to the supplier under warranty. He, in turn, sent it to the MB main dealers who diagnosed a faulty ignition switch, which was replaced yesterday (cost of parts + VAT £698 - covered under warranty!). Guess what? The problem had not been solved and happened again yesterday evening! Whilst the car has never actually refused to start eventually, I am obviously concerned that it is only a matter of time before it does.
Hoped the experts on here could give me some ideas as to what might be the problem.
