The boot button should always be flush with its surround, not pushed in. Normally you would turn key and push button together, but obviously your lock is seized up. You might get there with persistence and lube

Yes there should. It will be in a little black box on the passenger side inner wing by the strut top mount and the box will have a red + on it (assuming its the same as my 210).

i had that on clk once , lifted rear first aid kit and tray,,do you have that? and dremelled out enough plate to get my arm in and yank on seat lock cable. after which i never lock down the small side of rear seat, i also fixed rear lock barrel and now oil them on regular basis .was F annoyed at the time ,but my fault unless you want to blame benz for putting batt in boot.

Under bonnet post, box whatever, should work yes, BUT! From painfull previous experience, do not do work on convertible roof , because the boot will not open if roof isn’t at home position ! I know it’s a bit of topic but had I known first, !!!!

I had the same problem on a 2001 CLK which I bought 3 years old. I just happened to check if it worked, it didn't.
Rang MB who said use loads of WD40 on it, but it didn't work.
MB said bring it in & we will change the lock free of charge. Out of warranty so very nice of them.

Lubrication with WD40 is a waste of time a proper penetrating oil is needed to free it off and if you have one an old electric headless toothbrush inserted afterwards into the key slot and turned on works wonders.

A 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF is probably about the most effective penetrating oil you can get. It will separate when left so needs a good shake before use.

Yep - you need WD40 silicone grease jobby but acetone/atf is best as LostKiwi says.

Something I would normally use but be careful around plastics and bodywork.
You then want a dry lubricant as grease attracts the muck which will gum it up again.
