Hi Everyone,

This roof of mine on the W208 isnt folding !! Am I missing a trick or somthing ?
It has been parked up for a very long time........ I wonder if somthing is sticking ?
What is the correct procedure for opening the electric roof on the CLK W208, mine's got the rear head rests.

Thanks in advance everyone :)

Always best to release it manually, then try it

Hi Malcolm......

I released it and the windows went down all the way automatically then hit the red button and then nothing happened.

Reading you first post I see that it been off road a long time.

If the battery went flat, then the windows and roll bar need normalizing

You need to raise the windows, and hold the switch in the up mode for 10 sec in key 2 the same for roll bar if fitted.

Yes all 4 windows and bars with the ignition on.
The roof cannot come down it it does not know where the windows and roll bar are

Hi Malcolm.....

I tried the reseting of the windows. Key in pos-2 then hit the up button on all of the switches one by one. Then I tried opening the roof but no luck !! Yes I did the rear safety bar aswell.
Is it possible to raise the roof manually...... maybe that'll free something up ?

I've dealt with this symptom before and have a potential solution

But, first check that the roof stowage panel (in the boot) is locked into place. If it is retracted (to give you more luggage space) the roof will not retract.

If that is OK then....
In the boot there is a large panel fitted directly behinds the rear seat. It makes up the back wall of your boot space.

Your roof pump is located in there. It has a relay fitted to it. That relay is exactly the same relay that is located on a panel to the front of the battery, this relay is hooked up to the fuel pump circuit. Swap the two relays over. If the roof works and your car will not start then the relay is duff. I would buy a new relay and install it on the roof pump as that is harder to get at. Cost of the relay is minimal, in MB terms.

You can access the pump relay (through a factory cut hole in the panel wall) but you need to know where it is and the orientation as you are working blind. I could remove the relay from the pump through this hole (by feel) but had to use my wife's smaller hands to install it... The usual way of accessing the pump is by removing the panel.

thought i had the same problem, firstly the shelf in the back has to be pulled forward and locked into position, also when you release the rook the first hinge at the front needs to be at an angle, if it is straight it wont go down.
