Hi fellow Merc owners.

Will it be OK to charge a battery in Mercedes CLK 220 CDI 2.1L without disconnecting positive & negative contacts or will I be better off just disconnect the ground (-) only?

Thanks
Mykhailo

Hi and welcome.
You should be fine as long as you use a modern electronically controlled charger such as a Ctek or similar. I use one very often on both my C class and SLK and have never had a problem.

Most of us keep a Ctek or similar optimiser permanently connected when in the garage. It saves a great deal of faf when you come to use the vehicle.

As above. Two of my cars have trickle chargers permanently connected all winter. Malcolm always had his on a trickle charger when it wasn't in use.

Have hot wired Ctek to my W209 CLK. If you use the ‘recon mode’ disconnect the battery.
