Hi
I've recently bought a CLK 350 Cabriolet (2009).....The problem I have is when you try to play a cd a message comes on the head unit saying "scanning magazine"... And nothing happens. The cd auto changer (located in the glove box) accepts the 6 cd cartridge and it ejects OK with no problems. Just won't recognise cds.
The cds play OK in the slot for dvd/nav disc. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Hi
I agree it should be covered, just a long way to go back as I'm miles away now. Was hoping it would possibly be something simple

Try disconnecting the battery for around 1/2 hour. You may have to re-set the windows

On my CD changer (CLK 2005) when you insert the cartridge it scans each CD in turn before playing, as per the message you quote from your COMAND screen. If you leave the changer door open you should be able to see and hear this process taking place. If for any reason it fails to complete this process it won't play. So first thing is to confirm that this is physically happening. Could try just placing one good CD in one slot and leave the others empty? Mine went through a phase of being extremely fussy and then working after several re-insertions of the cartridge...

It is a rather delicate mechanism...

Other than the above, and/or if you ever get to the point where you admit defeat, remember that there is also a 3.5mm aux socket in the glovebox through which you can attach phone/mp3 player?

I have a CD changer from my 2009 CLK350 if you want it. My amplifier was goosed when I bought the car so I have removed all of the Mercedes audio system and I have zero interest in the CD changer, I'm much happier with the space in the glovebox.

It's only held in with a single screw from memory, so by all means, send me a PM with your details and I'll post it to you. It may help you out?
