Hi All

My car is a CLK 2006 W209 CDI 220 and while I love the car, the twin dropped exhaust pipes at the back really don't work for me so I'd like to change the look to be a large single or twin straight pipes coming out of the back, has anyone done this? are there any kits or can anyone give me recommendations.
I've looked at just chopping the drop bit off, but then the pipes would be too high for the bumper cut out.
The result doesn't even have to be functional, it's more of a cleaner look I'm after.

My daughter's w203 220cdi had a single rear piped silencer and the w209 is basically the same floorpan so the rear silencers should be interchangeable.

A lot of merc parts are interchangeable, like the R170 brakes are the same as the w203's brakes.

Hi Bill

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the back box from a CL203 won't fit as the hangers at the rear of the box are different, but more importantly, the back box itself is about 6" shorter than the one fitted to a W209 or regular W203, otherwise I would have done that.

Tell me about it, I don't understand how what made MB think that the factory setup on the 220CDI was acceptable, as it really spoils a beautiful car, especially as the CL203 (as you pointed out) has a much nicer solution.

Have a chat with an exhaust fabricator, they will likely be able to make something that’s a little more acceptable to you,
