CLK comand

I 've just bought an 01 CLK cabriolet. The comand had no CD so took it to MB dealer .Found that there was no power to unit & their solution was do without or buy a new one! These are over £2000 new .Is it impossible to have it repaired? Worrying that such an expensive item is useless after 6 years.

The stealership way is to just replace a part if it's buggered. No attempt to fix it. Imagine if you cut your arm and took it to the stealership version of your doctor. He'd hack it off and put a prostetic on.

Sorry for the delay in replying but I've been away attending to some very sad family matters. :cry:

Firstly we need to get the comand out and take a look at it. It might just be a fuse! There is a fuse on the back of the comand which has been known to blow. I have some spares.

If you fancy a trip to Woking, I'll happily diagnose the fault for you for free and If I can fix it there and then I will. I'll only charge if I have to replace the comand and of course you would be given the choices first. alternatively, take it to any auto electrician and ask them to check the power is coming to the unit on the A connector on the back of the comand and then also check the fuse in the back of the comand. It should take them less than 1/2 hour as the comand pops out easily with the right keys.

Thank you Alfie:: WHAT YOU SAY MAKES SENSE! My husband said it could be s'thing as simple as a fuse but we are totally thickoes where things like that are concerned! Woking is rather far from Caernarfon but we have friends in Swindon so we might arrive one day.
