Just new in town and wondered if it was normal for the car to 'pull' when in drive and without the accelerator depressed. Have noticed that there is quite a force there, eg when at lights and in D and brakes applied. I have resorted to sticking it in N! Am I doing the right thing?

Your comments would be much appreciated.

By the way, driving this car gives me a big smile:p

When stopped at the lights with your foot on the brake the car shouldnt move, the brake should be sufficient to hold it. You dont need to have you foot fully depresing the brake but a reasonable amount of depression on it is required otherwise the engine will move the car along with the brakes depressed.

Dont knock into N at stationary unless

1) its icey (no traction so with car in D and foot on brake the car will move with its wheels locked up on the ice)

2) your going to be stationary for a long time.

3) moving from D, N constantly puts more wear and tear on the car than just sticking it into D and foot on brake. Torque convertors can take it.

I think I have seen this mentioned before and it was a suspected Torque Converter sticking ?

My car will trundle along merrily at a couple of mph without brakes applied, but it only requires light brake pressure or the parking brake to hold it at traffic lights.

Idle speed should be around 650 rpm I think, give or take about 50rpm, once the engine is warm.
