Hi, I have a 2000 230 CLK and an intermittent fault with the ignition key. For the past week i can start the car and travel around, park it up and when I return to the car , I put the key in and all the lights come on but the engine won't turn over, leave it for a bit and it will start, same again the next day. Today it started but I have had to leave it as it wont start at all. All the lights are on the dash, fans work, everything but the engine wont turn over, any body know what it is please?

It could well be the starter or starter relay if fitted, a few voltage checks would be the way to start, by first seeing if there is 12v on the small wire on the starter motor when the key is turned to start
