Hello, from a new (model) CLK owner:
I would like to add Sat Nav but a COMAND retrofit is too costly at £3k.
Almost replaced the CD radio with a Becker CD/radio/SatNav unit but would have compromised the built-in phone operation which oddly needs the existing radio to be turned on to function.
So considering if a dedicated SatNav unit would fit in the cubyhole beneath the radio - does anyone have experience of replacing this cubyhole with a DIN sized facia plate to hold, for example, a Sat Nav unit ?

Other option is SmartNav - has anyone had this installed/any comments ?

Thanks/Barry

it seems the tom tom navigator is the satnav to go for. most reviews are saying it is so good they would never order factory fitted satnav systems again.

do a search on the interwebthingy fo it...about £450 i think they are.

Personally (sometimes doesn't count for much)

I would hold out for the comand. I see them on Ebay at a fraction of that cost. But you may have to be dilligent, to get the correct one for your paticular car, & a bit of German translation would help also.
