I was wondering, do all CLK models (2004+) have traction control? I noticed some of the adverts I'm looking at mention it and some don't...

I looked on the options list on Parkers guide and couldnt figure out what MB might call traction control - I know different manufacturers have different names for it!

Merc do have traction control but you can never fully switch it off as the ECU never let your wheels go nuts.

The on/off button should be near the gearstick and when switched off, you should get '!' mark on the dash and it will flash everytime your rear wheels are spinning

Post 2000ish - all mercs have Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as standard.
Pre 2000 ish some had ASR as an optional extra.

You have to remember though that ESP & ASR are two different systems.
Any CLK of the age the OP is asking about will have both systems as standard.

They all have ESP - electronic stability programme. This includes acceleration skid control.
You can de-activate it by pressing the button on the dash. (recommended for snow)However, traction control is still operational but the handbook says the drive wheels can spin.

Brilliant, thanks for all the great replies - I understand it now.

Also, does 'Command' refer specifically to the built in sat nav or just to the screen in the dash? I mean, does command = sat nav (i.e. with the screen) or does command = screen which lets you control stuff, which may include sat nav?

Command controls the audio, telephone and navigation functions.

It justifies a 235 page booklet of it's own.
It is integrated with the steering wheel controls.

so if you are listening to the radio and you recieve a tel call, it cuts out the radio.
Same for sat nav.

You can also read and send your text messages on the screen (although mine never "Sends" for some reason).

The sat nav is a CD so you will find it is most likely a little out of date.
You will be able to buy the latest CD from MB but will cost "£200 or more - cheaper to buy a TOM TOM (which you can upgrade online) but of course this will not be integrated.

Make sure it also has phone prewire otherwise no phone capability - command or not. Also if it has phone prewire, with or without command it will put the audio through and you'll be able to work the phone from the dash - whether an audio 20 or a command. The only thing the command does that the others don't is SMS.

Fully agree on the tomtom. Command looks great but the charge for new cds makes it ludicrously expensive to maintain. Tomtom is equally effective and much cheaper.
