If the catch in the lid is broken, then a new lid is the only way, if the lid is ok then the catch in the top of the box can be adjusted in or out a touch via the 2 screws holding it in

If it really is that simple to solve, and is like most other glove box catches, I am surprised so many people post looking for a solution from you Malcolm !

Either it has been slammed so hard the the catch in the lid is broken, in this case a new lid required, or the adjustment of the top catch before this happens. You cannot see the screws holding the catch in the top of the box I used to send out the changing the lid details. There are also buffer stops that may be set out to far, but not sure that these are adjustable but the usually are.

Glove Box latch problems

Hi
Has anyone got any ideas how I get my glove box to stay shut, the latch looks fine and so does the lock.

The upper catch may not be inline or too far back if the lid catch is all intact

Glove box latch problems

Hi, thanks for responding, I have turned the screws on the far left and right of the glove box to make an adjustment, but still does not latch on, there is no adjustment I can see to the actual latch, not sure what else to try, even the lock does not have screws to make any adjustments. Need someones magic touch.

there are 2 screws holding the top latch in the box, not sure if the box has to be removed to get to them.

Hi there. Yet another sufferer here. Have fitted a new glovebox after the last one broke. However I cannot get the new one to close. 2006 clk 220. Would be grateful for all and any info related to both fitting the box (to check I have done it correctly) and making adjustments either to the lid or the bar that the catch locks on to.

Email is teeftwo@yahoo.co.uk

The position of the 'striker' on the dash (that the mechanism in the lid latches to), can be adjusted with the T20 head immediately behind it in the glove box aperture.
