Hi Just watched your vid. I had this issue a couple of weeks ago and I could not find nothing on this so good for you for posting it. If you actually undo the screw underneath and bring the catch forward and re tighten it should cure this for you and be a permanent fix. I guess each car is different but it worked for me.

I got the advice from forum member in the end.

The advice about adjusting the catch is all here in this thread, somewhere.
The problem is there is too much to read!

A miracle fix for the broken catch in the lid is what most are looking for...

If it is not broken, then adjust,, if broken then no miracle fix other that suing mercedes.

I am surprised that no one has come up with a mod for this.

lol 24 pages and all you need to do is remove the CD changer with one screw, and loosen the centre torx screw in the roof to adjust the lock plate out :D

Over time when shutting it just moves it back, it's one screw to adjust it outward, 5 min job lol.

PS I know this is an old thread, just adding this comment in case anyone searches and finds a 24 page thread with no answer to a simple job :)

Many can fix their own by adjusting with care, a poor idea though.

I need a new Latch which means £150 for a used glove box:eek:

Can the latch be removed and swapped over to the old lid?

The glovebox fix takes a few seconds with a screwdriver, it really is that simple, just take a look at the lock, loosen the screw, adjust & retighten. There really is no need to watch videos of the procedure, it really is that simple!

Hi guys, anyone know if you can purchase a replacement glovebox lock mechanism separately? Mine has obviously been slammed one to many times. Anyone ever replaced one? Thanks for any info. It’s on a 2008 CLK
