I have just bought a W reg CLK320 with an Audio 10 tape player, cd changer in the boot, and command but it seems to lack any real power to the music. I have had a quick look in the boot and it appears there is an amp in there, but it doesnt appear to do anything. Is there a setting or a switch somewhere to turn it on or off?

If not then will an aftermarket headunit with more power work okay with the stock speakers and subs in the boot?

You either have Audio 10 or Comand, you cant have both. If you take out the headunit and see speakers wires connected to the headunit B plug you have analog BOSE (which your year CLK should) so can fit an aftermarket headunit. But that wont solve your issue if the amp isnt working.

Me getting mixed up - thought command was the computer with the multifunction wheel lol.

If it is analogue bose, you say it won't solve my problem getting an aftermarket headunit - is this because it won't use the headunits internal amp?

It appears to be in some sort of metal cage with wires running into it. Can't get the carpet enough out of the way to have a proper look. The wires go into the top which appears different to the image on WIS which shows them entering at the bottom.

If you do have an amp it will be mounted in the boot on a side panel

The best thing to do is to pop up the VIN then we can see what the car has

At the moment the speaker wires carry the signal to the BOSE amp. The speakers are not connected to the headunit so you would have to rewire them. The speakers are also a non standard resistance so will need changing.

Hmmm...it says Nokia on the speaker grill so I am guessing that is a no. If that is the case, can I just bung in an aftermarket headunit without rewiring anything?

No badges on any of them other than Nokia on the grills in the boot

Case solved its not fitted with factory Bose amp and speakers, so suggest you can fit aftermarket but depends on how much power you need ?
MB/nokia will handle so much but best to speak to Malcom he is the best on this subject

Seems someone has just added a pair of parcel shelf speakers. A headunit alone couldnt possibly overpower the speakers so you have nothing to worry about there.

Cheers guys, and thanks for the quick responses too. Looks like an aftermarket head unit then. 50w per channel should be alright me thinks
