CLK220 CDi Auto Intermittently cutting out

My 220 is a 2006 auto with very low mileage & well looked after, keeps cutting out while driving along. All power is lost, all the dashboard warning lights light up momentarily & it cuts out, sometimes comes back to life on its own within a second or two, OR cuts out completely, & I have to restart the car. Also, sometimes when I turn the ignition on, the dash lights will go out completely, I can't start the engine, & I have to turn it off & on again. I've had the car six months, & its happening more frequently.
I've changed the battery, the alternator has been tested, fuel filter has been changed, tried it in sport mode, but nothing has made a difference.
I did find something similar on this site a while ago (which I can no longer find), & the chap had a relay changed, but I don't know which relay.
Any ideas?

Have you checked the main earth cable?

Yes as above, does sound like a bad conection.

Hi and welcome, my 05 CLK with 201000 miles does this somtimes but just for a split second and restarts if rolling by itself. It does also have the odd time start when all goes out but usually second go works. It can go for weeks without a problem then will do it three days in a row, it has been doing this for over three years now and I have not found the cause.

I wonder if a bad connection to the EIS (electronic ignition switch) might cause this ?

Hi I asked if any one could help with the cutting out and coning back issue on my CLK I had some good reply's, but no fix so I bit the bullet and went to a Mercedes specialist. This post is for thaws people who's car cut's out when your driving along and comes back in an instant, and some time's you have to restart the car BUT IT STARTS STRAT A WAY, no cranking it over and over. It the ignition switch not the key just the switch. I changed the key on my car didn't work cost of £250 bucks the ignition switch is worse £650. buck but it works two mounts now and no cutting out. good luck and good hunting.

Thanks for the info but if it costs £650.00 i'll keep living with it, mine was good for a month then did it twice last week.
