2001 CLK230 - Audio10 + CD Changer

I have purchased a CD changer for the above. Im not sure if one was ever fitted before - the wiring was already there.

I have fitted the relevant power and optical cables but the Audio10 states no CDC.

I've cleaned the smaller plug which has the power and wakeup cables and made sure its fully seated. There is power going to the changer as it unloads the CD cartridge but when i reload the cartridge, nothing else happens.

I read a previous post which stated to remove the optical cable from the changer and look for the red light flashing. I have done that and it doesn't flash.

Does anyone know of any previous posts or where i can get step by step instructions on how to remove the headunit on an older CLK??

This is dead easy, you need the 2 keys from MB cost £1.04p

Just push one into each slot at the bottom and it all slides out.

After you have plugged the fiber optic cables in and the radio is on, the other end , CD end should have one lead lit up

Thanks for the reply, that's great news.

I'd seen the 2 slots at the bottom of the head unit but wasn't 100% if it just slid out or if it would be held in place with some other screws, which were maybe hidden from view.

Just as an amusing update to my previous post.

I contacted my trusty local MB dealer and requested 2 audio release keys which they kindly refused to supply. According to them, audio keys are classified by MB as a tool and they are not permitted to sell MB tools!

I then asked if i wheel the car round to the workshop, could one of the lads spare 2 secs and just whip the head unit out for me using their tools? Oh no..we can't do that sir, you'll have to go through our Service Department and see if they'll let you book the car in for that to be done!!

Naturally i turned on my heels and walked away..

Have went on to the internet and bought my own.
