Hi
Need a new thermostat on my car. ECP do a Circoli for only £7.20! I have read a lot of threads about the diesel thermostats going and having temp sensors. Does anyone know if the petrol cars have similar? Is the Circoli one okay or should I ring up the stealers?
Thanks.

Don't think i've got any first hand experience of Circoli but the according to the internet their 'stats and waterpumps aren't highly regarded by most. It's been a few years but IIRC at the time eurocrap offered a choice of KWP or Circoli waterpumps with the later being the cheaper budget option. I went with the KWP and only because the parts muppet at the local stealership claimed he wasn't 100% sure which pump i needed despite having the VIN and in either case it'd need ordering from Germany! Replaced the thermostat at the same time because it seemed daft not to only to find the new stat was far more erratic/slower to react than the one in the old pump... gauge would slightly pass normal running temp, then drop below 80 before finally settling

FWIW you can get MB prices by looking the part up somewhere like http://mbspecialist.com/mercedes_webcatalog/208465_1998-2003/20/20-050/1122030275O/ and then sticking the part # into http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&sku=a1122030275&Search=Go&page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&option=com_virtuemart Over twice the price, probably not twice the quality but for the sake of less than a score i'd buy a genuine one personally. I'd have thought the various temps sensors will be fitted into the water pump body/thermostat base rather than the cover you get with the new 'stat
