Hello,
I'm new to this forum, And having read many questions and replies I am not sure about the repairs to my car>
Bought a clk320 cabriolet 86000 miles 1999 25/07/2009
1st problem gear leaver would not go into park returned to dealer 06/08/2009.

repair made ready for collection next day.I was told a bearing was replaced Question would a bearing cause this fault??

2nd problem 13/08/2009 when in drive idle drops and than stalls. At roundabouts junctions etc.. Quick check by mechanic friend who thought MAF fault,(air leak)
Question could he be right??

returned 13/08/2009 car stalled many times on journey to dealer.

Still waiting for repair?
Dealer phoned awaiting inlet manifold gasket. could this be a fault??
thank you for your time.
very confused and tired on nights!! love the car not impressed with the dealers response.

Hi Dac5, and welcome to the forum.

If you had an air leak, it would normally manifest itself with hunting, engin revs up and down of its own accord. A simple check on the MAF can be done by unpluging the connections to it, if the car runs worse, then the MAF was doing something. If it runs the same, then the MAF could well be faulty

As Miffy above, not an air leak,, it could be the MAF

Hi Both,
Thank you for your replies I am almost certain it is not the inlet manifold gasket.I asked about the MAF but they dismissed that idea,

The dealer will hopefully let me know on tuesday if the problem is fixed.

i will keep you informed.
We were really looking forward to driving the car with the top down all last week on holiday in all the sunshine of the british summer!! But the car was off the road .
Warranty runs out today i wonder if that will make a difference.

thanks again Dean

It shouldnt make any difference as you already reported the fault to them. They should still fix it.

Hi All,
The good news is I collected the car today at 12:30. 13 day after I returned the car with the fault.

And as if by magic it was the MAF all the time. So 10 points to everyone that was right and nil points to the dealers.
To give them some credit they did a good job of valeting the car!(got to be good at something).
Fingers crossed that nothing to serious happens, Very pleased to have the car back.
