I managed to break the driver side mirror lens backing out of the garage. It was a bad day and I have only myself to blame. All still work well except the LED which is dead. Can I obtain a new LED? I think I am good enough with my hands could I change the lens myself, or is it a garage job? Please could you explain how to dismantle the mirror! The mirror on the CLS turns on a pivot and there are no visible parts when fully flexed. Many thanks for any help. Sorry I may have posted originally under the wrong section

Do I take it that no one has any previous experience in dismanteling the mirror on a CLS? :-( It looks like a trip to the local MB agency.

Malcolm, thank you. I went this morning and got one. it is £24.40 including the VAT. Despite my encouregement ;) the gentelman from the parts department certainly was not going to part with the secret of how to dismantle the housing to change the blinker unit. Most of the threads talk about lifting a clip in the flexed position but the CLS like the S and the new CL the housing is closed and on a pivot, the only way I suspect is to go behind the mirror but what then? Any advice would be very much appreciated. thanks again

Many thanks for your help. The mirror in the pictures are different to the CLS mirror and the new S. I am convinced that I may need to go behind the mirror to unclip something. What I need to know which part of the mirror housing I need to lever off (or is it the mirror it self? How?) to get access to the blinker unit. I am grateful nevertheless for your suggestion.

Hello,

The miror glass pops off, using a plastic wedge or screw driver, then the casing will be able to be dissmanted by unscrewing the torx screws , first take of the adjustment motor, again torx screws.

This is great, many thanks I will have a go at the weekend and report back. Fortunately I have a set of torx screw drivers. I hope the "popping" of the mirror goes well :)

Much appreciated

Hope no one is going to need this but if you do here it is how
It took me 30 minutes to do:

The most critical part is levering the mirror off. If one flexes the mirror in the housing it is easy to see the plastic lips which holds it onto the mirror motor disc View1
The mirror motor comes off taking 3 screws all torx number10. View2 and the rim of the mirror housing can be taken off by removing 4 further screws the 5th screw is in the background and holds the folding mechanism of the mirror View 3. By dislocating the outer housing one can then access the blinker which is held by two screws. unplug the electrical supply. it can go back only one way View 4

Many thanks for all the help

Hani

Will post the pics when I have figured out how. sorry
