Any views appreciated, recently bought my first Merc after years with BMW and it has been a bit of a mixed experience. Problems with break squeal and sticky wing mirrors and a failed ignition key. However there remains what I would describe as a cooling fan over run when the ignition is switched off.

This occurs intermittantly and can be quite alarming [high speed and a lot of heat from the radiator being dissapated] I was first told by the dealers at Teesside that the computer needed adjusting, this had no effect. Then I was told that they had tested a similar model and that reacted in the same way and it was therfore to be considered a safty feature!

Well no mention of this safety feature in the manual. Warranty due to run out shortly and I am not satisfied with the safety feature explanation.

After a high speed run the fan can run on, it depends on the temperature, electric fans cut in at 100c

Brake squeal is caused by incorrect fitting of the pads, the backs have not been greased.

A little silicon spray into the moving parts of the mirrors works wonders

Thank you Television
The fan over run is intermittant and can occur after a journey of just two or three miles through the town! Doesn't make much sense to me

I haven't noticed the fan running on in my W211 E320CDI however I do get lots of interesting noises when I unlock the car due to the systems switching on. It can also take an age for the Comand to decide to close itself down. Too clever for it's own good as far as I'm concerned.
