- CLS Shooting Brake 2016
HI. I have a 2016 CLS Shooting brake 103k miles and recently had airmatic issues.
I didnt want to go to main dealer as I've already remortgaged the house.
I went to local garage and the following faults were shown on OBD.
556884 The rear right vehicle level is outside tolerance
556684 The rear right vehicle level is outside tolerance
556e00 - Calibration of the vehicle level was not performed
55e13 The pressure relief valve for the system pressure has a malfunction, there is an open circuit
They couldn't fit me in for 2 days so I had a look myself in case there was anything obvious.
dropped rear cover at the air pump and found the control cable to the compressor snapped, repaired with crimps and heat-shrink but issue not resolved.
Took car to a ex Mercedes mechanic, he advised that they removed the crimps and soldered the wires instead, then jacked the car up in the middle so both rear wheels extended fully. The car was then lowered and the airbags filled and held overnight. I was charged a small fortune for soldering 2 cables and jacking the car up
2 weeks later, same issue again. Rang previous garage and was told he would call me back, done this twice and gave up.
Went to a local garage, they put 12v direct on the pump which ran for a short time then the cables started overheating, so he condemned the pump.
New pump ordered and replaced with new relay, found the pumps earth cable crushed, this was caused by the tow bar installation by others 2 years ago, replaced earth with identical size cable, pump still will not run automatically.
OBD can force the pump to run, air bags fill and the car holds fine, pump will not run automatically. Car drops again after a few hours, no hissing or obvious signs of leaks from bags, suspect suspension module is broken but cant prove it. Mercedes state the modules are on back order and cannot say when they will be in stock.
If someone could point me in the right direction or provide a wiring diagram as I can trace the control cables from the compressor as I suspect they brittle all the way through the loom, I would appreciate it.
Regards
