A big one
The CL500 I tired on the A1 took it from 70 to stop as the traffic slowed in front of me. My foot was only microns from the brake pedal but I didn't touch it

I had mine on in Germany at 125 and it was great, even with the plus version there are still times when it cannot cope, and your foot has to take over, you know though well in advance when that id going to happen.

Now as in my post above these can be the times when it cannot cope, for if it beeps, then it is not going to stop, it beeps so that you can take over

I have been saying this for the last 6½ years, many thought I was potty in the head :( It is a wonderful thing and I use it on B roads when in a line of traffic.

So true Malcolm. I will never buy any Mercedes without the 'Distronic' option. I just like the way it looks on the grill. I believe that the grill of any CLS or CL will look empty without the distronic option.

Do you like what it does too...or just the "look"?;)

Lol Naraic. You have started again.

I like how it brakes the car for me and how it takes off like rocket as soon as the road in front is cleared albeit this is the part that leaves me panting.

.

My foot is always not far away from the brake pedal because as a man-made thing, I can't help but admit that it can fail at any time.
It happened to me recently when I thought the distronic was not going to engage because of the way my car was approaching the preceding vehicle at such a high speed, I instantly applied my foot and the distronic deactivated.

I have to say that it has been flawless on the two occasions I have had it. I believe that on the new S they were considering a self drive option where for example in heavy traffic, cameras would keep you inside the lines whilst distronic kept you at a safe distance. Unsurprisingly this toy was canned as our good friends in the US of A enjoy litigation with the same relish that I would tackle Sandra Bullock in an accomodating mood!

Im in a quandry now though, Merc have de-listed the CLS500 just at the point that I could order one- of course with distronic!

So you find this also? I'm sure mine accelerates more quickly than the supposed maximum of 2mph/sec :cool:

I never took the time to wonder where it might be....I always assumed it was the parking sensors in a different 'mode' ...oops..I feel another Malcolm scolding coming on for not knowing these things ;)

Looking through the adds one can always spot the distronic via the star, on some 211's and 221's it is sometimes possible to see the plate through the front grill. Many dealers do not know ½ the time what a car has got in the way of extra's.
