Hello all,

Off the back of my recent posts about the s/c in the CLS55 squealing pretty badlyi wondered if anyone had ever seen these superchargers slip? Definitely feeling a bit like Turbo lag!

I can put it in manual, stick it in 2nd gear (happens in any) then I can put my foot down and feel a .5 second delay from hearing the rev to the main power kicking in. Doesn't happen every single time but most.

As I have the squeal with it I am looking for an AMG specialist in the south (UK) to diagnose but I'm finding it hard to locate one! Unfortunately the mercedesspecialistfinder.co.uk site isn't working correctly when searching.

So, any thoughts on the delay / lag issue on the Supercharger?

Thanks.

Hi,
I had similar issue with mine I fitted a Belt Wrap Kit, this solved my issue.

I bought mine from the owner of this company directly, simple to fit and was good quality.
I use Olly at PCS in Horndean, near Portsmouth, simply because I work in Portsmouth.

I also have a BWK. It only used to slip when you shocked it.

EG - full throttle acceleration, then let off and the on again in a very short period of time. You could hear the squeal from the belt.

2005 CL500.
Would a toothed belt have been a better spec...or would that possibly have been too stressful? At least the slippage allows dissipation of energy in certain situations.

It's normally down to the tensioner getting old and loosing it's spring.

I would replace the tensioner before installing a bwk. It's only really needed when spinning the charger faster imo.
