Can someone tell me a coil's healthy ohms readings on the primary (between +ve and -ve terminals) and secondary (between +ve terminal and tower terminal) for a 1985 SL500 please? Mine is reading 0.3ohms on primary and 9.3ohms on secondary which seem a bit on the low side but I cannot find the part number of the correct coil for the car and even if I did, I can not find anywhere online that shows what the readings should be. Thanks very much.

The part number should be
A0001585503, superceded by
A0001586503, superceded by
A0001587503.

All are interchangeable.

The resistance could be correct depending on the voltage. Some car ignition coils use 12v on the coil, some use a lower voltage to run but out 12v on the coil to boost for starting. I don't know what your car does.

I'm curious why you're measuring tower to positive on secondary?
