Hi
hope you can point me in the right direction.
It is an 1998 petrol with 1,4 litr engine.
Battery has enough power, all lights come on , but it doesn't fire up.
RAC man sprayed starter aid into the airfilter outlet, - started ok.

Also once it has warmed up , appears to start ok again as long as engine is warm.

so probably some sensor. But there are quite a few. And the location?

For example:
On http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/mypage.1.htm under bulletpoint37, it lists all sensors. But my mechanic couldn't find the location of air duct temperatur sensor. Wasn't where it was meant to be

Could be the water temperatur sensor? But where is that located?

Someone suggested the OVP relay.

Apparently the symptoms are similar to those of a faulty crankshaft sensor. Should I have that replaced?

Scratching my head ,
Thanks for any suggestion
Claudius

You will keep scratching your head until you have someone experienced look at it.
The vehicle needs to be hooked up to star by a specialist and diagnosed.

diagnostic on pre 2001 car

Hi
Thanks for yr comment. Yes it is presently at diagnostics. Previous experience of diagnostic on this car were not too encouraging: The RAC's man's laptop didn't recognise this car, apparently only after 2001 produced cars provide universally recogniseable read outs. Later in a Bosch garage it read out air mass problem, - but it took us a fair while to realize that on this model, the ECU and the air mass is one and the same.( ECu needed remapping)
This is where forums like this prove to be so very useful.
I'll let you know of read out.
Cheers
C
