Well, been out for me first full on drive and must say I love it.......done a few miles around the local villages and went along to the coast, thought after 15 miles I would hit the motorway and give it a gentle run for 10-12 miles along the M27, smelt a tad warm when I got home but no brakes grabbing and no oil smells, will check all the levels tomorrow when I get to work, think I will balance the wheels tomorrow as well as a full check over.

Some more new bits tomorrow to fit.......

Gorgeous looking car. You seem destined to spend a lot of money on headlamp wipers though, Cole . Full service, and a bit of black paint on diff housing, splashguards etc. Repair that little rip in the front seat and that is nearly a show car.

Couple of small up-dates to speak about, remember that nasty grill, its gone......

Merc still sell every bit for it, the outer part was good on mine so the middle part and shiny bits turned up today.....

After fitting, looks like a real 124 again

Sorted out this look as well,

Picked up the paper work for it yesterday, was a tad shocked, has full history to 130000, its only got 134000 now, the hand book pack is complete as well....

A folder full of MOTs and invoices

New indicators fitted

Carlos fault finding why the rear window dont work, turns out the motor is shot...

Wheel balance done today so thats better now, gonna do front lower ball joints next week so bit more update then.......

But why would a rear window motor be shot? A pretty low use item? Perhaps the reason will emerge when a new motor is fitted? :D

The rear windows have to go back a touch on the coupes when you open the door, I have had a new ECU in my 216 for the rear window.

I believe the motors fail more due to LACK of use than through use. the motors seem to stick and sometimes even a tap with special tool number 1 doesn't get them going again

Its not lack of use Pete the rear window has to drop a touch every time you open the door, then go up again when you close it.

I thought there was some sort of pillar between the rear windows and the fronts, even on the coupe

I am amazed as the 140 had it from day one, thank you for that;)

That would be the reason why no one has posted on this

This is the joy of these coupes, I drove through Exeter yesterday with all the windows down and no wind of draft at all

I do not know when these coupes first came out, the 124 first came 1986 and the 140 1991 so may they learnt something, it was the same with the 129, the windows did not drop till about 1996, maybe the early 140 coupes did not have it, I just do not know.

Mine is a 91 Malc, the way the windows butt to the seals makes no need for a lift or drop......
