Its only for the headlamps Colin ;)

So I leave them because.........

They was there when the car was built so they need to be there when I'm done..

Only going to do this build one way, it's gotta right or I just cut every corner to make it easy...........

Nope! thought about it, more money time.......

So new visor clips turned up today and got fitted,

Started doing some service work on it, engine oil and filter, gearbox oil and filter and convertor drain, looking at the oil it needed it....

With the car now up in the air on the outside ramp, i was pleased to see that the under side wasnt that bad, its been under sealed to death as has everything ease under there, a heavy stream clean of didnt show any nastys, there has been a couple of plates here and there but not bad jobs done and i expected to see this, still, pleased with the shell of the car,

Got a delivery at lunch time of some of the bits i ordered from MB,

Most of these were as cheap or cheaper than GSF which was a surpise. another load due in tomorrow.

Think i have found the transmisson vibration as expected

Rain killed end of day work so will get on it more IF summer decides to turn up.........

So quick up-date, fitted donut to gearbox side of prop, new gearbox mount fitted, fitted new middle to rear section box on exhaust and loosened whole system to refit properly, signs on the floor where the system has been hitting the underside, found the handbrake shoes cracked so new kit ordered so i can refit rear brakes setup,

Having a good study around tonight, can see this turning into a full on rebuild, gonna fit the parts i have and do some miles with the car and some GTGs, thinking out loud here, 2nd hand front and rear subframes, take the over the road and get them blasted and powered coated high gloss black, full rebuild of rear arms using new parts and bolt kit, new roll bar and bushes, new frame bushes, weekend work then to swap out rear frame and change all brake pipe work at the same time also giving the diff a new set of seals and some paint...............

This could get costly.........

More tomorrow with some more picts.......

Rear subframe

Check,Is there much rust where the rear subframe bolts to the chassis, also under battery tray.i used to break the 190s and 124s before I retired, lovely cars. Still have one off each with the 250d engine. It is a thing that the corner of the drivers seat wears around 70000mls the car upholstery people do have this material to repair as good as new. Also check for water in boot and do not for get to clear water drains, eight in total. Hope this helps

They can rust under the sacco panels, under the sill covers and under the rear screen also.

Pretty good day today in between sun and storms........

Started with swapping these out..

Too some nice new ones

Fitted the new coolant fan switch and run it up to temp, the fan did cut in so that was a result,

While fitting the rear brakes i see some bubbles on the inner wheel wells, quick poke showed this...lucky it cleaned up without falling to bits.....

Coated in rust killer ready for under coat...

Wasnt so lucky on the other side.....

Quick clean up showed the worst.....

Only one thing to do.....

Out with the welder and plate.........not finished yet but the storms and floods killed any further work, car on outside ramp and wheels not back from powder coaters......Blue stuff is just some rust killer...
