I'll be restoring/respraying the above car over the next 6 months and I'm in a dilemma about the colour.Originality is not primary but is important !

So should I stick to an original colour combo or pick on of these new flashy irridescent colours available nowdays ?

I was thinking also of painting the hardtop a different colour to the body ?

What about Silver with a wine roof and red leather interior, or an irridescent colour (like the new Alfa's) with maybe a dark green roof and seats?

Your advice please ?

Hi,

Personally I wouldn't go for the funky new colours.  I recently saw a Porsche 356A painted in a purple/blue pearl (as per TVR).  It didn't look nice at all.  Also if you get a scratch the you can forget about being able to remove it.  The only way to remove scratches is a complete respray.

The silver and red sounds really nice, especially if a really rich colour of carpet/seats is used.  Very classic! :)

Steve.

Yeah I've decided on Silver for the outside, one of the older less "in yer face" shades. I havent decided on the inside yet. It is currently black leather with green carpet and I might stick to that !

Hi 69coupe.

Try www.mercedes113.com for accurate info & links for correct colours for your year of car.

Personally, on these cars, the original colours were varied enough to cater for all tastes, would hate to see a 230SL in an iridescent colour.

The sites also invaluable for tech. info. about our cars.

Hope this helps.

I think it would look nice in
1.silver, with a dark red, or black leather and roof
2.red, with cream, or black leather and roof
or maybe Black, on black or cream
