Dear Members.
As you can imagine, My car being nineteen yr old Has picked up a fair amount of scratches, Well iv'e searched high and low for a colour match from top name car stores to no avail.
So i decided to get further info from my vehicle ID and was given these code numbers. My car is two colours breaking at the bottom quarter.
The codes are- Metallic Blue/Black/Black Pearl (199) Thats the main bulk.
And Smoked Silver (702) Thats the bottom Quarter.
Well i'm confused, Blue, Black, Black Pearl, Can't they make there mind up or am i missing something!
All i want is a couple of cans and perhaps a Chipstick but don't know where to get any from. And can anyone make sense of them colours.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Mike.

Hi,
Just go to your local Halfrauds, with the colour code numbers and they will mix up an aerosol can of each coloured paint, good match too, if mine was anything to go by.
When i bought mine it was a tenner a can.

You will find it cheaper to locate a local paint supplier who offer the same service. I got some made up for my Porsche for £8 a can, and they even adjusted the shade to take into account 25 years of fading too. (Obviously take the car for this !!)
My car is the same colour as yours. The colour is actually Mercedes blue- black, but it is pearl finish.

Do not waste your money on any clear coat, it will darken the repair too much as it is not the same as the factory top coat

The paint tat comes in the aerosols is a base coat, our cars are finished in a base coat (not a finish in itself) then a clear coat is applied. the factory clear coat is very clear, the clear coat that comes in cans is not, and it will be too dark.

Better off just polishing the base coat, its as soft as butter

Yes, the 924 IS one of the best bargain sportscars available, and I will have every one you can find me at £8 a pop ! :p

Nice comeback - I can't argue when you put it like that!
