I understand it is possible to set Comand, via a hidden function, to show the speed as measured by GPS.

Assuming this isn't a myth, would anyone like to share the secret? ;)

I have never heard of this, unless something very new.

i know it works on my tomtom but not sure how it could be done on the built in units, i would think its an option that can be activated via STAR, maybe in developer mode?

I did a quick Google and found this video. I haven't had a chance to try it yet: I'm not altogether convinced as the process shown stops before he actually reaches the GPS function!

OK that is a late unit,,, be nice if the earlier ones can show it.

Amazing you would think that after8 years and 115k post this question would have been asked before

It's just that I'm a bit obsessive about knowing how much my speedo over-reads.

On my last BMW it was 3 mph at all speeds (including "autobahn" ones ;)) and on the previous one it was 2 mph... similarly at all speeds.

Would be nice if I can use the built-in nav to check this, rather than getting out my ancient TomTom unit.

My findings have been the car was more out at 30 mph than 70 mph. but cars can differ over the range.

Got out my TomTom today and have established the speedo overreads by 2mph at all speeds up to normal motorway ones.

Easy to remember. :)
