Last year, having purchased the SL in May, the Comand system cut out a couple of times completely, during hot weather. No music and the sat nav froze. Removing and replacing the fuse solved the issue each time and it didn't happen again.

Fast forward to the hot weather now and it cut out again. Refreshing our memory, we removed the fuses and tried it again.

Now it gets interesting and a little embarrassing. The radio worked. The clock worked but is now 2 hours forward and cannot be reset manually as it sets itself by the radio signal. The sat nav worked but looked different. It appears that it was in permanent night mode and I hadn't realised. I assume it's night mode although the manual makes no reference to it  Well when you don't know any different, I thought it was a really basic system, rather than the pretty coloured version I have now!

So it works apart from an incorrect time, but what's the betting it fails again at some point? Any suggestions apart from take it to the garage to be put on Star? Will Star pick a fault up as it hasn't so far?

Go to language, then set time and date, place something over the screen in this hot sun if possible

Having got it on Star eventually, there is a fault logged, but it's more than likely to need a software upgrade. The mechanic showed me 5 pages of possible faults direct from Germany that it could be.

When I next take it in, he will contact the guy at MK with the issues and see if he can diagnose what software upgrade to send.

The clock turned out to be because the country had reset itself to Germany. As all the language and towns etc were still in English, that one had passed us by! So a change to the country UK sorted that, although I didn't see which section of the menu he used to get there. No matter for the moment though.
