Chas,

Mine came with one, and I can honestly say that I have only used it a couple of times.

Only really useful if you want to adjust anything from the back seat, when you are a certain age, you don't tend to bother.....................

Unless you are with "Big Elsie" of course, nice girl, reduction for coach parties!

No you definitely don't need remote with "Big Elsie", she works all on her own. If she didn't, can you imagine the commands on the remote, doesn't half make the mind boggle!

Linguatronic sounds a great idea, I have used it in later Mercedes, don't know if it can be fitted to Comand 2.5. Would be very interested to know if it is possible. Perhaps Alfie would know?

No, no relation to the said Mrs Tanner, but a very kind woman just the same. Known to give reduction for pensioners on a Saturday morning, and will travel for group engagements.

If you already have her on the "hot list" on Comand, I take it you will need the remote!!

Linguatronic can be retrofitted to pretty much any Mercedes. Its worth noting though that Linguatronic on an older car (D2B) such as one with comand 2.5 is failry limited compared to new Linguatronic as fitted to the MOST based cars.

Thanks Alfie, what could be contolled using Linguatronic, and would you have any idea of cost?

You can control the radio/Cd/telephone etc but with D2B the navigation use with linguatronic is very limited. I personally wouldnt recomend anyone having it retrofitted to a D2B car as the cost is prohibitive for what you get. All in it will be of the order of £900. As a factory fit option it was far more worthwhile as the cost was a lot less.

The MOST based cars with linguatronic are far far better. The actual voice recognition is very good and there is a vast range of comands that can be used. The best in my opinion is being able to enter a destination into comand and start navigating to that destination without ever taking my hands off the wheel. Again, cost is more than factory fit as the parts are not cheap.
