On the brink of buying a NTG2.5 Comand for my 2004 E220 CDI which currently has an Audio 20 CD. It looks like I can PnP with the items listed below (Plug and Play with the help of an adaptor cable), but want to be sure the ones I'm looking at will be compatible as I beleive this field is a minefield of compatibiltiy issues.

Anyway Will a A211 870 60 94 PnP into my car,

or

A211 870 50 94

Thanks in anticipation

A 2004 car is Most based, and the Comand 2.5 is not and D2b based

Comand retofit

What if any is the physical wAy of distinguishing a most from a dtb system? At the back of my Audio 20 I have one large connector and 1 phono style connector that either uses fibre optics or is a thin co-ax style cable.

All W211 cars are MOST based. D2B was used on the earlier cars in other ranges such as the W203, W208, W210 W209. However, the W203 c class was changed to MOST from april 2004 build onwards so in reality that means cars from about late May 2004 onwards. The W209 CLK was made 'MOST' from October 2004 build onwards hence these are all 54 plate onwards.

Fitting an NTG2.5 comand unit into a W211 which has Auduio20 is definately not plug and play. You WILL need a loom adapter at the very least. Also if you have a CD changer, phone pre-wire etc these will no longer work when you have installed NTG 2.5.

All these things can be done but do not underestimate the work involved. Particularly on a W211.

I am afraid you are very mistaken.

I fit these on a weekly basis and can assure you that there is more to it.

For starters the FM/AM amplification is different. the connections for the antenna are also different. There is more.....
