Hi All

I’d be interested to have your opinions as my 350SL’s Comand system tells me that the next B service is due in about 5,000 miles.

It was last serviced when I bought it last April, since when it’s done about 5000 miles.

Questions: Should I get it serviced anyway in April to give it an annual mechanical refresh

What should I expect to pay for a B service?

The car is a 2004 350SL, with 82,000 on the clock and is running very well, and never seems to use any oil according to the Comand system?

Thanks as always for the excellent advice always obtained from the forum

No need to have the car serviced every year. The dash readout will remind you around 28 days before the service is due.
If its not been done an ATF change would be recommended at 37.5k miles, plugs at every 4 years or 50k miles.

As above, with a car out of warranty I would look for a good MB independent garage and save at least 50% of your labour costs compared to main dealer. OE parts are used and your service book stamped.

2004 SL350 - if it's anything like my 2001 C270 the service interval was 15k miles or 2 years, whichever came first. As for the ATF change, MB were adamant that the box was sealed for life, but I still had it changed at about 70k miles "just in case", just as I have recently had my S204 c220 ATF changed at 100k miles despite MB Ashford insisting the box was sealed for life!

Loads on here and t'other side about ATF change time, about 204 facelift time MB introduced the 37.5k mile change, not sure about other models - the crafty sods at 204 introduction also changed the servicing interval from 2 years/15.5k miles to 1 year/15.5k miles. Money generator for MB servicing??

My 350CDi with 7g has just had it's second ATF and filter change, recommended every 4 years
