COMAND failure.

For those who may have read, My COMAND system locked out 800yrds from my home having just completed a 300mile journey.

The CD changer still had its disc lights on, and it stopped playing halfway through track 3 of CD 3. (Who painted the Moon black, Hayley Westenra). The Nav system was on dynamic route guidance to my home, had not rerouted at any point on the trip. A DVD was in the drive (Best of British, John Lydon) and the phone was installed.

When it went blank, the music ceased, the map screen went off which had been selected, the dash display had Navi-----please wait, and scrolled to the others it said, Audio---- please wait, Phone---please wait,

Everything else seemed ok and no fault messages came up

So I tried to on/off, but that didn’t work.

Thought it may have overheated. Left it overnight in the garage, selected position 2 on the igniton and still nothing.

Went for a better look at it today. Got car out of garage, tried to eject DVD.nothing. CD changer lit up, but would not give disk.

Rummaged around for fuses, No sign on fuse box under bonnet!, passenger side glovebox wall comes away with a bit of poking with screwdriver, list of fuses in there with some fuses.

Number 41, 5amp, does the navigation system, all other fuses are under the bonnet? On somewhere in the boot..

Turned ignition off, sliped out number41 fuse. Ignition on, no lights on CD changer. Ignition off, fuse back in, ignition back on, all works like normal now?

You tell me how?

Power down reset it's called. Chips with everything these days and they do throw a wobbly regularly.

The command equivalent of ctrl-alt-del
Don't be too downhearted - my Audio 10 did it a couple of times too!
Fuse for that one is under the rear seat swab - real easy to access!
