Command sat nav - continual problems finding correct locations

I have the full command system in a 2006 ML320. I have both sat nav discs (UK and Europe). I live and do most of my driving in London and actually keep the disc in all the time. However it is very vague at finding the correct road/destination - even if I type in the postcode! Surely if I type in the postcode it shouldn't have to ask me for road name or area but it does and 4 times out of 5 takes me to the wrong location. Also as there are a few streets with the same name it doesn't stipulate which particular street it is taking you to, eg. if there is a Brook Road in Kensington, Eltham and Willesden it will only give me one choice and not even tell me which of the Brook Roads it is taking me to!
Please help.
I've ended up in the wromg lace or set off on the wrong journey too many times now!
Thanks

Thabks for you reply but if it I input most of the postcode it should at least know the area? or why would that function even be on there? what purpose does it serve?

It's only a computer. You have to give it some help. I know the 5 digit postcode is annoying compared with other satnavs but the postcode should get you to an area, as you state, and then you need to narrow it down with street and number.

If it's not a full post code search then it won't know the street but you're right it should know the area. In our car, you need to type in the post code (first half plus first digit of second half) and then the street name and it knows where it is.

As above it's a computer so it can only provide a response based on what goes in....... I can only imagine that you're entering something incorrectly? Perhaps if you could give us an example of an address it can't find and we can try it in our cars to see what happens? Also if you could talk through the exact steps you use to enter it into your satnav?
