Hello, a few months back i bought a c-class without a test drive as the car i wanted was in stock but another site.

I had the option to return the car to mercedes within 30 days if totally not happy.

The car pulls to the left and busehes and track rod arm needs repalcing, and both front tyres will be replaced.

the engine sounds rough for 10k, specially compared to the new c class loaned to me whilst mine is waiting for parts.

my c class is a 53 plate the pre face lift. The new car they've given me has seamless gear change and power steering is much lighter - the engine on the ne car against mine on start up is much quite.

The facelifted c-class - has the auto box and pas been improved.

The engine noise on the car i purchased that last about 2 seconds like a disel sound, is that normal for car with 10k on the clock

my car is 18ok

Even the new loan car with 1k on the clock, steering is slightly off centre - mine was pointing to 1pm.

Any views - am i entitled to comp as i'ven taken two days off - the fist was last week when they kept the car for most of the day, and second was yesterday, still not repaired and this is why they've given me the new c-class.

I'm worried what will happen when the arrantie runs out.

thank you

I doubt you're entitled to any compensation. I had a few extras fitted to my C FOC but it did break down 1 hour after I collected it and had to be towed back to the dealership. Other faults tend to be teething troubles the previous owner didn't get fixed. I normally expect to take a car back for something within a week of collecting it - 250point PDI or not. So far I haven't be dissapointed!

I don't take time off work for car repairs, I simply book it in and inform them that I will be dropping it off and picking up the loan car on my way home the night before. Most dealers are open till after 6. On one occasion when I was working away, I arranged to have the loan car for the week. Unless its a breakdown, I always get a loaner, and if it is, you are entitled to one on mobilio.

On the differences front. You need to ask if the car has changed. Facelifts can be more than skin deep. My wife complained last week that the jeep loaner she had ran better than hers, even though they are the same model and look identical. On further examination we found that the engine had been upgraded a few months ago.

The bushes and arms on the C were a weak point. I believe they have been updated so the new ones being fitted should be an end to the problem.

An engine with 10k shouldn't rattle on startup as there shouldn't be any wear for the followers to take up. Compare it to another on their forecourt. If in any doubt, give it back, there are loads of C's on the market these days, so it wont be an issue for them to swap it for another one. I have always found the sales team very helpful with problems after I bought the cars - go and have a chat.

I agree with jberks, but if the car is a kompressor then these tend to rattle on cold start up (camshaft adjusters). If unhappy try for the free bees, mats, mud flaps, ect.Go straight to manager.
