After lots of thinking and much pestering of the kind folk on here I am going to look at an S213 E63. It has FMBSH but have no further details as yet. I was hoping to catch up with an owner or two on my travels, but haven’t. Not one at Simply Mercedes either.

Is there anything that I should look out for whilst there ? anything to dislike, check. or pay particular attention too ?

Am I going to regret trading in my S211,

Thank you

Am I going to regret trading in my S211,
Once you've driven it, you won't look back at the 55 again Brian.
That's if my experience moving to a 212 was anything to go by.

All I'd say is make sure it has the options you really want. They have far more options fitted as standard than any 211 so you should be OK.
But if you wait for the must have options you could be waiting forever so compromise is in order.

What plate does it have? Up to a 68 plate you'll have the nice noisy performance exhaust option.
After that I think all post 19 plate cars have that OPV which quietens the cars down far too much for my taste. Think its Option 598 if you get the Vin# and put it into a decoder ( https://www.lastvin.com/ )
Good luck and hope its what you are looking for!

Thank you Roger, it is a 19 plate car but does have the exhaust switch. Has plenty of options, probably more than I want, but until I get the reg and the vin, can’t check much. It does have the few that I did want…
be sad to see the E55 go if I go for this. I shall let you know..

If you can get either the Reg# or Vin# send Gaz (Jobsworth) a message.
I understand he is happy to do a Vin check for service history and can confirm whether it has the OPV fitted making the exhaust quieter.
The performance exhaust is still quiet with the OPV.

Thank you, been having a good chat and has been very helpful.

Happy to answer any questions you may have on the E63.

Options are important, 360 cam is a must (its a big car), performance exhaust too! Carbon ceramics are rare but amazing braking! it was a toss between the performance seats and the driving assistance (Distronic plus) as you couldn't have both on the year I was looking at, different options available on different years!

Just the man, thank you.. 360 cam is on the list, as is ILS and the “non bucket “seats. Roger has already mentioned exhausts, but that could possibly be replaced, Blue or Hyacinth though might take White..

Luckily I don’t have a massive “must have “list so there should be a few cars that fit the bill.
am looking at one next week which seems to tick most boxes.

Well, took one out for a good drive yesterday. It is considerably bigger than my S211 and with way more gadgets. Comfort wise it is about the same, though have just put a new Airmatic compressor on mine.
The cabin is a nice place to be seated and the heated steering wheel that came on half way through the drive was pleasant surprise. I quite liked the car and the dealership selling it kept me in nice coffee and good biscuits.

Be a good starting point, I would like it to go to a nice new home where it can continue to be looked after, as imho, it is too god to get trashed just yet…
